FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? You're in the right place! We’ve gathered our most common queries below. Our goal is to make your journey with DreamJam Stories as smooth and magical as possible.
Getting Started: The Basics
Q: What exactly is a StoryTeller Kit?
A: Think of it as a complete, screen-free "storytelling sandbox" in a digital file. It’s a downloadable PDF packed with beautifully illustrated characters, props, settings, and story games. You print it at home, cut out the pieces, and give your child a world of endless, imaginative play where they are the author of every adventure.
Q: How do I get my kit after I purchase it?
A: Instantly! Once your purchase is complete, you'll receive an email with a secure link to download your kit. Just click, save the PDF to your computer, and you're ready to start the magic.
Q: What do I need at home to use this?
A: It's simple! All you need is:
A home printer with colour ink.
Standard A4 or US Letter paper (we recommend card stock for durability!).
A pair of scissors.
Optionally, a single six-sided die for the "Roll-a-Story" game (or just use a dice app on your phone!).
Printing & Prep: Your Biggest Questions, Answered
Q: Your kit is 12 pages. Isn't that a lot to print?
A: We hear you! It's a question we asked ourselves a lot during the design process. Our 12-page kit isn't a random number; it's a complete, cohesive system where every page is packed with replayable value. Think of it not as 12 separate pages, but as one complete "experience-in-a-box": a full cast of characters, immersive settings, a story-generating game, and even pages to create a keepsake book. It's a storytelling sandbox you can return to again and again.
Q: I'm worried about using all my printer ink. Is this an "ink-guzzler"?
A: This is our favourite question, because we’re obsessed with saving your ink! We know printer ink is one of the most expensive liquids on the planeyou were try our best to keep ink usage down. That's why if you look closely at our character and prop sheets for example, you’ll see they are set against clean, white backgrounds. This is intentional. The magic is in the characters themselves, not in wasting your precious ink on a background that gets cut away. We believe in value density, not volume.
Q: What kind of paper do you recommend?
A: For the best play experience, we highly recommend printing on a heavier paper, like card stock (around 160-200 gsm is perfect). This makes the pieces sturdy, durable, and easy for little hands to play with. Regular printer paper will work in a pinch, but the pieces will be more delicate.
Q: All that cutting looks like a chore for me. Is it?
A: We like to call it the "ritual of creation!" What looks like prep work for a parent is actually a crucial developmental activity for a child. Cutting with scissors is one of the best ways to build the fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination needed for writing. That "chore" of cutting out Ferdinand the Fox is a valuable skill-builder disguised as fun.
Q: Can I start playing without printing the whole kit at once?
A: Absolutely! For a quick, magical start, just print two pages:
The Character & Props sheet.
One of the Immersive Backdrops.
With just that, your child has everything they need to start their first story. You can print the rest of the adventure whenever you’re ready for Chapter Two.
Play & Ages
Q: What age group is this for?
A: The Enchanted Forest is most magical for children aged 4 to 10, but different ages play in different ways.
Ages 4-6: Will love the tactile, imaginative play—moving the characters around, creating simple scenes, and acting out dialogue.
Ages 7-10: Will lean into the more structured storytelling, using the "Roll-a-Story" game to create more complex plots and even using the keepsake pages to write and illustrate their own books.
Q: Will my child really play with this more than once?
A: Yes! That’s the core of our design. Because it's a sandbox, not a puzzle with one solution, the story can change every single time. With 8 characters, 12 props, and the story game, there are hundreds of unique combinations. One day the grumpy gnome is the hero; the next, he's the one causing all the trouble!
Q: Can siblings play together?
A: Definitely. The kit is a wonderful tool for collaborative play. Siblings can take on roles of different characters, build stories together, and practice cooperation and turn-taking.

Q: I haven't received my download link. What should I do?

Q: Do you offer physical, pre-printed kits?
A: Not yet! We are a small team focused on creating the best digital experiences possible. However, a beautifully boxed, physical version is a big dream of ours. The best way to hear about it if (and when!) it happens is to sign up for our newsletter.
